Coyote Hunting Information for Matagamon Wilderness Camps

Our Coyote hunts are done over active baits using the lucky blinds pictured here. Heated with small propane heaters, they can be quite comfortable on cold winter days. All blinds are located on the shores of lakes and ponds or large open meadows with shots of up to 200 yards.

Transportation to the sites will be by truck and/or snowmobile and supplied by us. If you have your own snowmobiles and want to bring them, that is fine also.

COYOTE NIGHT HUNTING PERMIT: Required to hunt coyote at night from January 1 to April 30. Hunting is limited to 1/2 hour after sunset until 1/2 hour before sunrise and shall cease at midnight each Saturday and resume at 12:01 a.m. on Monday. Hunters must be in possession of an electronic, hand-held or mouth-operated predator calling device. The fee for this permit is $2.00. Night Hunting permits are available here at the camp.

As you can see from the photo, we have our share of coyotes in the area. These coyotes were taken during the winter of (98-99) through a state run snaring program .

Last winter was no different, 58 coyotes were also taken by the same method.
